Short Report about the EHF General Meeting in LounyFrom 08-09 November 2014 our EHF Country Representatives attended the EHF Annual General Meeting in Louny. Our big EHF family was represented by the members from the following countries: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, The Netherlands and Spain.
We were joined by our friends and family, who were supporting us during the meeting. Thank you!
The most significant subjects to discuss for the upcoming season 2015 were: Evaluation 2014 Season, Financial situation, Sponsorship, Calendar for the next year, EHC vs Handcycling world (current situation, possible evolution), Improvements, Rulebook, Promotion and many, many more. It was a very intense and creative meeting. We are hoping that our work and ideas will lead to upgrading the quality and the satisfaction of both, our Athletes and the Race Organizers.
On this occasion we would like to thank all the members of the European Handcycling Federation for attending,their great effort during the meeting and the most of all Radovan Sabata for his big heart and hospitality.
We will inform you shortly about the meeting conclusions and our new ideas! Please stay tuned!

The EHC Race Calendar 2015 is online nowThe European Handbike Circuit will start again in March at Abu Dhabi and finish at Barcelona City and Castelldefels in October. After a break of several years the EHC comes back to the Netherlands with an event at Utrecht, where at the same weekend the Tour de France will start next year. The circuit includes also the traditional events at Rosenau and Louny and for the 2nd time Rzeszow.

In 2014 a total of 312 athletes started in 12 races and since beginning of EHC history in 2001 1082 athletes from 49 countries had a total of 10183 starts in 116 races. And it is worth mentioning that the EHC event organizers and the EHF paid about 400000 Euros to the winners until today.

Licence and Written Confirmation needed from your Cycling Federation for EHC races at Fossano!
Due to a very recent litigation with an Italian organiser, the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) took the decision to follow the UCI rules, much more in deep than last years.
On the base of those circumstances, the foreigner Athletes must be authorized by the respective National Federation in order to have an extension of the insurance connected to the National Licence.
The procedure is very easy, you just have to inform your National Federation Paracycling Office in written, saying that you will race in Italy, Fossano in a race listed by the FCI.
Please ask for a written confirmation so you can show the document to the Italian Commissaires during the licence verification.
We are very sorry for this small difficulty, so we would thank you for the cooperation.

The first EHC event in Poland was a great success.
Over the weekend of 14th and 15th June 2014 the City of Rzeszow hosted an EHC event ever to be held in Poland. A respectable field of athletes representing 11 European nations, including current World and Paralympic Champions, took part in the Time Trial on Saturday and Road Race on the Sunday. The event manager Mrs. Malgorzata Galda and her team did an excellent job and many people gave a great feedback about it.

EHC Podkarpackie Rzeszow Cup - Registration started already
This is the first EHC race in Poland. The Organizer expects participation of many athletes from Poland and Europe as well as Paralympic Champions, World Champions and top Polish stars.
The event will consist of two races: 14 June - Time Trial and 15 June - Road Race. The competition will take place in the 4km lap at the main streets of the city and include 4 laps (TT) and 10 laps (RR) , making them even more attractive for the spectators, because everybody will be able to see the athletes while competing.

Large Stage Offer of the EHC Castelldefels Organization
The Club Esportiu Handbike Barcelona offers additional possibilities for athletes participating in the EHC event at Castelldefels. The athletes are invited to arrive earlier to spend some days for training at the beach and at the near mountains together with the members of the handbike club. On Monday after the UCI/EHC races you may spend a „Sport and Fun Day“ at the Canal Olimpic Area using the time trial track and the Fitness Studios (free entry for handbikers). You can also try archery or test different handbikes. On the following Tuesday you are invited to visit the Formula 1 Circuit de Catalunya Montmelo. Extra EHC Event near Barcelona in AprilBecause of the success of the EHC stage last year in Castelldefells (near Barcelona) as well the local as the regional government became very enthusiastic. Also the Spanish cycling federation give their support and sponsor asked for another race this year. With such a big support from everyone in their area we cannot ignore this opportunity to have a high quality race onboard. After a very careful consideration we decided to make an exception to accept this event after we have published our calendar. The dates of this event are April 12th and April 13th . These races will also count as a UCI C1 event. Further information will follow soon.

The crew’s quarters for all athletes and escorts will be the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Yas Island. The 4* hotel is minutes\' walk to both Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld and the Yas Island Beach. You\'re 10 minutes\' drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport. As already known the LOC offers free accomodation for all competitors from 14. to 17. of March. For any additional nights for athletes and the accommodation of escorts the fees are 575 AED for single room and 660 AED for a double room, all rates are inclusive of tax and on full board basis.

EHC Event in Abu Dhabi
Up-to-date information about the EHC event in Abu Dhabi is now available. As already announced the race venue is on the Formula 1 Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. In the morning of 16. March will be the time trial and in the afternoon the road race. The OC is offering free accomodation and food for all athletes for 3 nights from 14th to 17th of March. The Organizing Committee will take care of free airport transfer and ground transportation for all guests including athletes and escorts. A list of hotels will be published soon and the OC will help to book.The races are UCI sanctioned and therefore the UCI licence is mandatory. The entry deadline will be the 1st of March.

The European Handcycling Federation is proud to announce a partnership with a passionate team of competent people who are going to host an EHC event in Reszsów, a town situated in the south-eastern part of Poland. To the team belongs, among others, the well-known handcycling star Rafal Wilk. The event is scheduled on 14. and 15. June and offers a time trial as well as a road race.This is a very exciting addition to the race calendar and a major step in promoting handcycling in Eastern Europe.

The Club Esportiu HandBike Barcelona will organise an individual time trial and a road race on 5th and 6th of October. The race venue will be at the Olympic Rowing Center in Castelldefels. The invitation is still under preparation and will be published within the next months. For the overall ranking in 2013 five of seven races will count.

Rosenau Race Report
The 98th EHC race was held under rain with low temperatures near 0 degrees. In the class MH3 a large field of 10 riders was able to break away. After a quick race and some attacks the medals were distributed in the finish sprint. The French rider Joel Jeannot won ahead Torsten Purschke (GER) and Arkadiusz Skrzypinski (POL).
After 4 laps the leading group of class MH2 was already reduced to 6 riders. At the finish the Belgian rider Jean-François Deberg attacked his opponents with a furious sprint and won a great victory over David Franek (FRA) and Walter Ablinger (AUT).
In the MH1.2 race no rider was able to break away from the peleton. The young Swiss rider Tobias Fankhauser had the best finish sprint. The other podest places were allocated to Patrick Pascal (FRA) and Rodolph Cecillon (FRA).

Human Tecar and EHC confirm their partnership for 2013!!
After the successful partnership last year, Human Tecar and EHF confirm the cooperation in the 2013 too, so the physiotherapy service will be made available free of charge to all participating athletes, at the appropriate area that will be set up at the Sponsor village in the immediate vicinity of the competition venues.

The EHC 2013 Gadget !!
Approaching the first race of this season, it is time to announce the new gadget!
Following the way we took some years ago, we worked with a partner to find out a new and qualitative gadget, that represents what we have in mind looking to \"our\" riders.
We selected the italian company SELEV, one of the most important helmets and eyeglasses producer, and we worked side by side to develop a kind of sunglasses, focused on a specific use during handbike races; and we are now really proud to reveal the result !!!
The \"EHC 2013 gadget package\" includes an exclusive design, customized sunglass frame, with EHC colors and decoration, two pairs of interchangeable lenses, and a smooth bag.
As usual, you will find the new gadget at the first EHC stage, in Rosenau the next 30. March.
SELEV will be one of the official \"EHC 2013 Partner\" and will be present with a booth at the venue in most of the stages this year.

It took much longer time than expected, but our friends in Al-Ain are now ready to keep their promises. The Al-Ain event organization is regretting the delay of payment which was caused due to a complicated procedure which they had with several financial departments. The total amount of flight tickets reimbursement will be soon on the account of the European Handcycling Federation. As soon as the money is on the EHF account I am going to start with the individual money transfers. All involved athletes will be informed and also asked to send me their bank details (BIC + IBAN).

Classification of Athletes on the Occasion of the Louny EHC Event
Kees van Breukelen, the official EHC classifier, is going to offer a national classification on Friday 29. 6. in the evening and on Saturday 30. 6. in the morning.
Classification charge: 15 Euros
This classification is valid for all EHC races, UCI P1 races and national championships. All athletes who have not yet been classified and intend to start at their national championships or at UCI P1 races should take the opportunity to get their classification certificate.

EHC RACES in Al-Ain cancelled !
Dear Athletes,
we have been in contact today with the police and the municipality as last attempt from our side to find a solution for our race itinerary but it seems that things are getting harder and more complicated. So we discussed this issue with our headquarter in ZHO and internally in the club and we came to the hard decision of cancelling the race this year better than accepting risky itineraries with very low standards and disappointing to our athletes, officials, media and observers, and that will also harm the image and reputation of the EHC.
We kindly request those who already registered in the race to cancel their bookings. Our organizing committee will assume the responsibility of reimbursing any fees related to the tickets cancellation after receiving the invoices from the travel agents of those who already bought
their tickets.
On behalf of the LOC, I would like to express our deep sadness and disapointment of losing this great opportunity of hosting the first race of the EHC in 2012 in Al Ain, and we will keep working very hard to make this happen in the future with more guarantees and commitment from the city Council and the police. Thank you very much for your understanding.

You can start your preparation to London from Al-Ain! So hurry up! Classification of Athletes on the Occasion of the Rosenau EHC Event
Jürgen Schmid, Head of Classification of UCI Para-cycling, is going to offer a national classification on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of April.
Classification charge: 35 Euros
This classification is valid for all UCI P1 races and national championships. All athletes who have not yet been classified and intend to start at their national championships or on further UCI P1 races should take the opportunity to get their classification certificate.
The schedule of the classification session will depend on the number of interested athletes. Each classification will last about 20 minutes.

The EHC event in Kent unfortunately has to be cancelled. In spite of all efforts made, the organization was unable to find sufficient funding for the event. The reduced 2011 EHC calendar has 8 races (only the best 6 races will count for the overall ranking at the end of the season).
At the weekend from November 5th to 7th the European Handcycling Federation held their 31. General Meeting in Parabiago. Under the guidence of chairperson President Roberto Rancilio the Committee discussed various matters concerning the federation\'s future undertakings and activities as well as financial and administrative matters. The meeting was attended by representatives of 10 member countries and included reports of the EHC events held in 2010. One topic was the 2011 EHC race calendar.
EHC 2010 overall ranking is online. Many thanks to all the athletes from around the world for participating at the 2010 European Handbike Circuit and congratulation to all the winners. The EHF Committee is looking forward to seeing you again next year on the circuit. The 2011 EHC calendar will be online in November.

Fowlmead - Race Report
Over the weekend of 4th and 5th September 2010 Kent hosted the first P1 status Road Race event ever to be held in the UK at Fowlmead County Park, near Deal. A strong field of athletes from Europe and the USA, including current World and Paralympic Champions, took part in a series of Road Races on the Saturday and Time Trials on the Sunday. The meeting was sanctioned as a P1 event by the UCI and included the British Para-cycling Time Trial Championship as well as the 2010 UK stage of the EHC race series. During the weekend the weather was generally fine, but there was a consistent breeze, which made racing conditions very challenging for all competitors. The principal race organisers from Kent County Council (Kent Sport, Leisure and Olympics) worked in partnership with Eurotunnel, Fowlmead Country Park, British Cycling, HandcyclingUK and Vista Leisure to provide the very best event possible.
There were notable wins for Great Britain including Crystal Lane who won both the C1- C5 Road Race by over 8 minutes and the Time Trial on Sunday, Rik Waddon who won both the C1-C3 Road Race and Time Trial, picking up the British Para-cycling Time Trial Championship Winners Jersey, and Rachel Morris who also won 2 trophies in the WH1-WH3 Road Race and Time Trial, again winning the National Time Trial Championship Winner\'s Jersey. Oscar Sanchez from the USA was another double winner as he convincingly powered away from the field in the MH4 Road Race and Time Trial. In total there were 84 riders representing all of the Para-cycling competitive classifications. Of these riders 52 were handcyclists, representing 14 different nationalities. In addition to the winners mentioned above, there were victories in the Road Races for Torsten Purschke (GER - MH3), Tobias Kneccht (GER - MH2) and Mark Rohan (IRL - MH1). In the Time Trials Karen Darke (GBR) convincingly won in the WH2 class, Torsten Purschke won the MH3 Time Trial and Walter Ablinger of Austria proved victorious in the MH2 Time Trial finishing only 1 second ahead of Tobias Knecht in very difficult and testing conditions.
During the weekend more than 1,000 people visited the purpose-built cycling track and witnessed the cycling whilst also attending the Family Fun Day on the Sunday, which included dance displays from local cheerleading group The Vista Twisters, opportunities to try their hand at circus skills, archery and a 500 metre sprint on the WattBikes provided by British Cycling. The Paralympic Mascot Mandeville was also in attendance and proved popular for photographs with children, adults and some of the athletes!

Kent Sport, Leisure and Olympics Service has attracted the first P1 status Road Race event in the UK. Hosted at Fowlmead Country Park near Dover, Kent the event will run over the weekend of September 4th and 5th 2010.
This event builds on past successes, Kent having hosted a number of national and international Para-cycling events in recent years.
This is a high class event which will attract high level teams from around the world.
The Handcycle races are part of the European Handbike Circuit. As part of the event a National Disability Time Trial Championship will also take place.
Kent Sport Leisure and Olympics will work in partnership with British Cycling, Handcycling UK and the South East Road Race League in order to to provide the very best event possible.
The event will promote the County worldwide for tourism, economic links and as a venue for future major events beyond the London 2012 Games.

EHC Time Trial at Schenkon
Despite the heavy rain and chilly temperatures the race was a huge success. The EHC event drew a huge number of 129 athletes which is a new world record for a time trial. Not less than 4 new winners entered the EHC list of winners the first time: MH4 - Alessandro Zanardi (ITA), MH1.2. - Martin Kovar (CZE), WH3 - Sandra Graf (SUI) and WH1 - Pia Schmid (SUI). The absolute fastest time had MH3 rider Joel Jeannot (FRA).

INVITATION - EHC GRAFENDORF - AUSTRIA
Dear Friends,
we have the pleasure and honour of inviting you to participate in the ENERGIE STEIERMARK HANDBIKE CHALLENGE in Grafendorf from June 25th to June 27th 2010. The village of Grafendorf will host the most spectacular handcycling event that has ever been held in Austria. This event, which is also UCI P1 sanctioned, is the 4th stage of the European Handbike Circuit. Athletes from about 15 countries and 4 continents are expected in Grafendorf for this international event.
A lot of elite riders with the local hero – Manfred Putz – and an interesting supporting programme will ensure a big crowd of spectators.
Athletes and visitors will also be able to discover the touristic attractions of the region called Oststeiermark. It holds a scenic and cultural variety that can hardly be found somewhere else in such a small space.

25. 6. (Friday) EHC 13 K Time Trial
26. 6. (Saturday) EHC Road Race from 34 K to 55 K depending on H Divisions
27. 6. (Sunday) 16K Hill Climbing Race
A lot of service features will be offered. The registration fee (66,00 Euros) includes the entry fees for both EHC races, a T-Shirt, chip time keeping, 3 vouchers for meals and drinks, personalized starting number, first aid, sports massages, handcycle breakdown service provided by Mr. Thomas Schmicking and last but not least entertainment on Saturday evening.
For athletes and their escorts who will arrive/leave at Vienna Airport (Vienna Airport – Grafendorf = ca. 120 km) airport transfers and shuttle services on location are provided.

The 5th edition of the EHC Time Trial in Schenkon will take place on 15. May 2010. Please notice that the entry deadline is very early on 18. April.
New Organisers for UCI Para-cycling World Championships
Initially scheduled to take place in Cali, Columbia, from 12th to 22nd August 2010, the UCI World Para-cycling Championships will finally be relocated.
The road events will take place from 17th to 22nd August in Baie-Comeau, in the province of Quebec, Canada. The track races will take place in November or December; several potential organisers have been contacted by the UCI, which will shortly attribute this part of the event.
In parallel with the relocation of the World Championship competitions, the final round of the UCI Para-cycling World Cup, which was to take place in Baie-Comeau from 2nd to 4th July, will take place from 13th to 15th August in the same region, in Sept-Îles. The organiser of these two events is the same (Paramanic International).
The second edition of EHC Al Ain Event draws a huge field of participants
About 70 athletes from 16 nations have registered for the EHC competitions in the desert city. Among the huge field there are Paralympian and World Champions which promises exciting races for the different divisions.

This year the traditional EHC event in Rosenau will celebrate the 10 years jubelee. The big event will be held on 3. April 2010. To ensure more safety the big fields of H2 and H3 divisions will not compete at the same time but one after another in different races. U23 EHC athletes, juniors and kids need not pay the entry fee.
New Date for the P1 Paracycling and EHC Event at Fowlmead/Kent
As the proposed date for the World Championships in Columbia has recently been rescheduled, it was necessary to postpone the date of the UCI Paracycling and EHC Event at Fowlmead/Kent.
The new date is 4. and 5. September 2010.

Athletes wishing to organize a training camp have to contact the hotel directly at the above website, the prices will be 110 US Dollars for a person in a double room and 180 US Dollars for a person in a single room, or they can book in any other hotel if they wish.
Flight fee support :
- The European Handcycling Federation will support each athlete\'s flight ticket with 50 Euros. The amount will be paid in cash on location by the EHF treasurer.

During the last EHF General Meeting, the EHF Committee agreed unanimously on the admission of Ireland as a new member into the EHF. Mr. Denis Toomey (Chairman of the Disability Commission of Cycling Ireland) will be its country representative. Together with Ireland, the EHF now represents 12 countries in total.

On October 10-11, the town of Parabiago (Italy) hosted the EHF General Meeting 2009, where all the EHF country representatives met to discuss a very stretched agenda. On Saturday noon, the EHF representatives were received by the Mayor and members of the City Council at the Parabiago Town hall
EHC 2009 Stage 6 – Oupeye (BEL)
Only a few weeks prior to the race day, Didier Simons, the “boss” of the Belgian EHC stage, was told that his race could not take place in Namur due to a film festival the date of which had been changed. As an acrobat, Didier had to provide for a few miracles in order to re-plan all the items necessary to set up the last stage of the EHC 2009. He had to search for a new race venue and the town of Oupeye offered him their help. Eventually, everything was set up and on a very windy day more than 60 athletes came to the start line of the final EHC 2009 stage the course of which passed along the Meuse river bank.
